Refreshing Your Beeswax Wraps

Refreshing Your Beeswax Wraps

Our wraps are very versatile and will last for up to a year with the right care. You will notice that as you start to use your wraps  the texture will change and small marks and creases will appear. This doesn’t mean they have done their dash! They are still great to use. When you feel like they need a refresh there are a few things you can do.

Refresh your wraps using an oven.

  1. Pre-heat your oven to 60 degrees Celsius, or the lowest temperature on your gauge.
  2. Line a large oven tray with a sheet of baking paper and pop the wrap onto the baking paper. If your wrap is too large to fit on your tray it’s okay to fold it.
  3. Place into the oven for 3-4 minutes, keeping a close eye on the wrap the whole time.
  4. When wax is melted (you can tell as the colour will be darker and it will appear wet) and wrap is soft, take out of the oven, lift the wrap by the corners (it will be hot), wave gently in the air until it is cool (30 seconds or so). Then lay flat until complete dry.

What to do with really old Wax Wraps

  1. Rewax them! Using our handy beeswax wrap mixture available from our shop. We’re big believers in making things last as long as possible, which is why we created our handy rewax bars to help you refresh and rewax your wraps for as long as possible.
  2. Use them as eco-friendly firelighters! If the cotton on your wraps is faded and frayed, you probably can’t refresh your wraps anymore. Instead, cut them into strips, twist and use as environmentally friendly firelighters. They are completely waterproof and slow burning, perfect for campfires, BBQs and firesides.
  3. Pop them in your compost. Our wraps are made of all-natural materials that will naturally biodegrade.
